Starting a School Garden
Designing and building a new school garden is a very exciting time, but also poses many challenges. In order to support you, we would like to offer our Growing Success with School Gardens workshop binder. The full document includes, creating a master plan, garden design and site analysis, materials and budgeting as well as year round gardening suggestions, planting charts and seasonal activities for youth.
Gardening with the School Calendar
This monthly planting guide has been developed specifically for school gardens in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Each month includes planting recommendations, garden tasks, and educational activities that can help educators to utilize on site garden space for educational success throughout the school year.
Along with our after school programs, School Garden Project of Lane County offers STEM in the Garden professional development opportunities for educators. Each year we support classroom teachers in the development and implementation of garden based STEM education through professional consultation, presentations, workshops and collaborative teaching opportunities.
